Kyler: the son, the older brother, the Second grader, the thinker, the soccer player, the writer and artist, the Lego builder . . . Chickens

Eric's dream is to have a farm.
And both of our boys love animals.
I am the odd one out.
But we found a compromise that makes everyone happy.
Chickens!
That's right.
Eric gets his farm animal.
The boys get their animal to raise and care for.
I will get fresh eggs in a few months.

We got them as chicks.
The first four we named
Chewbacca,
Queen Amidala,
Mr. President,
and
Geronimo.

They lived in a box in the garage
until they got big enough
to go out
into the chicken coop
that Eric built for them.

And then the boys in my life
all decided we needed two more.
So Elvis and Oreo joined the flock.

These boys take good care of their chickens.

Disney World

Eric found out he had a conference for work
in Orlando, FL over our Spring Break.
We couldn't pass up the opportunity
for a trip to Disney World!

Saying hello
to Mickey and his friends
when they rode in on the train
to open the park for the day.

We love Disney!

Family

Because Kyler was baptized at the beginning of the month, we had some of our extended family in town.

What did we do with a house full (two of my sisters, a brother in law, a niece, my mom, and Eric's parents)?
We took turns on the 360 bike and the ripstick.

Played a little basketball and Ladderball.

Made a bowling cake for Kacin
and Eric tried to light the candles with flint and steel.

Saw some sights of Seattle during our very own Amazing Race that I organized

Held our annual Untalent Show.
There were light sabers, guitars, whistling, kissing, impersonations, and toilet paper origami.
It was an amazing show!

We played lots of board games
and we spent a lot of time in the kitchen cooking, eating, and cleaning.

We hope everyone (including those who couldn't make it this year) can join us next year when Kacin gets baptized!

Fall Begins

I've been in denial that the summer is over.
In fact, this entire year has gone by all too quickly.
I didn't think I was ready for another Fall and Winter,
But then
I noticed
the leaves on the trees in their red and yellow glory
while we spent an afternoon enjoying the Fall festivities
of a local farm.
It made me excited for everything else Fall--
bring on the Jack-o-lanterns, costumes, and caramel apples!

Summer!

Summertime came and went all too fast.

We went on many hikes.

We visited the aquarium, musuems, the beach, and the zoo.
And checked out Seattle's gum wall.
 More hiking!

We went on a loooong road trip down to Arizona for Eric's sister's wedding. On the way, we stopped at the Redwood Forest . . .
 San Francisco . . .
 And Disneyland!!
Waiting for the Star Tours ride at Disneyland . . .

We had such a busy, fun summer!
